The wildness of the Sahara blesses the plants it harbours by forcing them to adapt, evolve and thrive. Great gifts bloom, full of life and energy, such as the Moroccan Tree of Life - the Argan tree, and other wonders.
Developed by a native Moroccan who is now based in Asia, Maha Bouhaous, LaDune offers Moroccan skincare products containing Moroccan therapeutic botanicals and ingredients formulated to bring out the best in you. This is how her story began...
“I was lucky enough to grow up in the oldest city of Morocco called Fez. Something I’m forever grateful for, a place of deep rooted culture, identity and heritage. At home it was my grandmother who was the keeper of our family traditions. She is a strong woman, she raised me and she made sure I inherited her wisdom. Lal-la is the reason I am who I am today. She taught me to be kind, to respect my elders and to care for myself and my appearance. Together, we’d meticulously handcraft beauty items from the wilderness in and around my hometown, where age-old beauty recipes and secrets began. In spring, when the roses were plump and open, we’d make rose water. In summer, we’d gather the ingredients we needed to make ghassoul masks. This was a special, almost sacred time for my grandmother and me.
I feel a calling to share the legacy of my family with other women, to present the best of Moroccan beauty habits and rituals. Going back hundreds and hundreds of years, rituals of purification have passed from woman to woman, sister to sister and mother to daughter. The Hammam is our haven and effortless beauty is the reward for our timeless passion for self-care. It is in our soul, and Moroccan women prioritise internal and external wellbeing, always. It’s vital in our daily life and we preserve the most powerful secrets of beauty to this day.
My Morocco is extraordinary. A land rich in culture, sultry sunsets, and its perfumed air, where Mother Earth provides the gifts of women’s beauty like no other country in the world. Imagine a dense array of palms, olive and fig trees, swathes of red, white and pink roses overshadowed by mountains and the heat rising from the sandy dunes of the desert. No other country can offer more than Morocco when it comes to natural beauty. This is what inspired the creation of LaDune for me, bringing the most essential beauty secrets by Moroccan women from generation to generation, to the rest of the world.”
